Kids As Peacemakers Mural Program
We challenge churches,
synagogues,
schools, and social organizations to have their youngster talk about peace and peaceful living, then design and paint their mural on a sheet of plywood.
We ask participating organizations to display their mural in front of their building in May, Peace Month in Massachusetts, and keep it on display through Labor Day. Locally the KAP organization supplies the sheets of plywood with the Kids As Peacemakers header across the top, to tie all of the murals into a community-wide program.
Benefits of the Mural Program for Kids:
- Offers the opportunity to discuss serious issues. What is peace? What does peace mean to me? How do I visualize peace and peaceful living?
- Builds consensus skills in choosing the design.
- Allows kids to have fun working together on the program.
- Generates feelings of pride and accomplishment.
- Adds a “touch of class” with murals that are attractive, creative, and unique.
- Visually reminds people to solve conflicts peaceably.
The Kit contains an important Kids As Peacemakers, Inc. Liability Statement. Displaying a mural out-of-doors may raise legal and liability issues that participating organizations need to aware of, and consider. To order a starter Kit for the Kids As Peacemakers Mural Program, click here. |
